This painting is an area called Tar Pits Beach, in Carpinteria, California. I used to jog on this beach every other morning. This place has been the source of much inspiration. The day this scene enchanted me, I was there to do research for the Tidal Churning painting. As I turned from studying a tide pool on the rocks, I saw the moon rising over the blackened bluffs. Captivated by the orange cliffs, the blue sky and the sparkling ocean water, I just had to paint it also.
