The huge rock in this setting makes this a unique seascape. Splashes on the reef and small rolling waves of sea foam, curl around the contours of the sand.
Traveling with Susanne up the Central Coast of California, we were about half way to Big Sur from Santa Barbara when we decided to stop and explore a primitive little campground. There was a river running through it. We decided to follow the river to where it met the Pacific Ocean. This huge rock mass was among many of the interesting natural formations. Seagulls and pelicans were flying back and forth over the backlit waves as they pursued the pebbly beach for a foamy landing. The mist from the crashing waves was catching the orange glow of the late sun and presenting it against the dark background of the huge rock. I thought it would be an interesting effect to render. Besides, the colour of the sky, I enjoyed how the smooth sandy part of the beach lit up even from up under the sea foam as it crawled across the beach.
