The deep eucalyptus groves of Montana de Oro State Park are one of the enticing things that I love to photograph as well as paint. The swaying branches rustle, creak and click, wafting the strong smell of the fragrant oils through the misty air. Eucalyptus bark peels in jagged colorful strips, exposing bright orange, gold and even mint green colors in the many layers. Leaves scattered on the ground like multi-colored crescents, are catching spots of sun in shifting shapes between the trees. There is nothing quite like spending time in a forest of these other-worldly trees, especially when the Monarch Butterflies fill the air and cling to the blossoms laden branches. What an awesome sight that is!
