Every day at sunset, locals gather at this crest in the hill to enjoy this view and watch the sun slip beneath the horizon. I have watched too, mesmerized, looking for the elusive green flash that can occasionally be seen at the split second the golden orb's last rays are dipping beyond the Pacific. The scene in the other direction, back toward the little towns of Los Osos and Morro Bay is equally enchanting in my opinion, as sun sparkles off the westward windows. I imagine all the people looking out those windows to see the sunset, each precious life so depending on the sun's return each day. It is good to appreciate our individuality, but also treasure our common humanity. Put aside the stress and strife, see the big picture.
