Hand Painted Wall Art of a Beautiful Lake Scene

Sweltering heat of inland California pressed down on us as we left the foggy coast. To me this was a welcomed change from the somewhat monotony of overcast summer days. Santa Margarita Lake, our destination for variety, lies just over the mountains about 10 miles Northeast of San Luis Obispo and the hustle and bustle of highways and shopping malls. Still quiet waters and sun-drenched scenery were quite a contrast from the pounding noise of ocean and humanity. A family of deer tentatively stepped out in front of us and we all froze. They were startled off by a mischievous fox that scampered out between us and the deer. Unabashedly, he looked our way and seemed to grin at foiling our attempts to grab our cameras. We continued our walk around the lake, heat soaking into our unaccustomed bodies. The cool water looked inviting. We relaxed with a picnic lunch spread on a grassy knoll, soothed by the calm of this secluded lake in the mountains. As we left in the late afternoon, I photographed the views that eventually became this painting. A lovely farewell to behold Santa Margarita Lake in the late sun.
