Tiny sail boats and colorful kayaks strewn at awkward angles on sandy knolls near water’s edge: this was my first experience of the quaint town of Baywood. Little did I know at that moment, that one day I would live very near this far removed spot. Lost on a tangle of residential streets, we stumbled upon a half buried in sand road, if it could be called a road at all. The glint of sunlight off the water and the salty brine in the air, hinted at the estuaries proximity. Though mid-day, all was bathed in solitude, as if the lonely boats were abandoned. Low tide exposed muddy flats that captured a few of the vessels in the mire. Birds dug and searched for accessible meals, as we explored and photographed the unique mood of the area called Cuesta-by-the-Sea.
