I was winding down an old country road on our way through the Yosemite, California area enjoying the beautiful landscape with may husband, my mom and dad. As we rounded a corner, this uniquely spectacular site caught us all by surprise. We were fascinated by the manner in which the sun was backlighting all the foliage. Bright green grasses lit up the hillside to the right and gorgeous pinks and reds balanced out the other side of the scene. The river flowing towards us showed off its rocky bed with glinting pieces of ancient broken boulders. As we all breathed in the mountain air and gazed at the scene before us, I found myself inspired to paint it. I wondered if the painting would be believable since the scene was so unusual. I am pleased that so many of you have expressed the excitement you share with me in the rendering of that time and place.
