A lone Butterfly in the light of Dusk

I created ‘Flutter by Dusk’ for a fund-raiser in Santa Monica for the Scleroderma Foundation. The butterfly is their symbol of hope and change. This serene depiction of the afternoon sunlight filtering through a twisted oak tree, dappling the grassy field, is given a whimsical touch by the butterfly dancing across the scene. The warm gold and green colors contrast with the pale blue sky. Hints of orange clouds indicate evenings approaching sunset. I wanted the painting to be uplifting, reflecting the spirit of hope on which the Scleroderma Foundation was based.
